Roselyn is sweet, down to earth, and one of the most influential, emerging women on the net. But what is obvious is her beauty inside and out.

Here’s an interview with Roselyn about makeup, childhood memories, and what she thinks is real beauty.

1.  Do you have a fond or strange memory involving makeup during childhood or teenage years? Do you think it’s shaped how you use or view makeup now?
Memories…yes…plenty! Strange? No. Makeup always captured my interest ever since I was a little girl. I would make sure to always sit next to my mom as she applied her makeup in the mirror and always went behind my sister’s back and played with her stash as well. I always admired makeup; especially lipstick…yes, I had this thing for lipstick that I can’t really explain. Well, I guess thats because when you’re a little girl when you think of makeup you immediately think ‘lipstick’; I assume. Anyhow, I remember having 10 Bonne Bell lip glosses by the time I was 9 years old, so I guess you can say I’ve always been somewhat of a collector.

2.  Name 1 – 3 favorite makeup/beauty products you can’t live without.

Well my number one thing would be a fantastic all over moisturizer and for that I use Nivea Creme. It’s amazing and great for every inch of your body. It’s rich and moisturizing and pretty much everything that Nivea makes is great. So classic!

Second, I would have to say that I cannot live without a lip moisturizer. I’ve been getting my groove on with the Sugar Lip Balm by Fresh Cosmetics for quite sometime now. Pricey, yes, but it’s amazing! I have yet to find a replacement.

Finally, I would absolutely say mascara. While it’s not a “must” for most people, I have the most wimpiest lashes ever. So if I’m ever out without mascara (which is a rareity) you can bet that my eyes are covered by big black sunglasses. Currently my favorites are Lancome Definicils, Lancome Fatale and Chanel Exceptionnel mascaras.

3.  Do you have a bedtime beauty routine? Favorite nighttime ritual

Honestly, three out of my five work-week days are twenty hours long (no kidding!), so I usually like to get to bed as quick as possible to endure my measily five hours of sleep. But when I do have the time, I do like to spend time and pamper myself from head to toe. Including soaking in hot baths, using different lotions and serums for this and that, and of course giving my face the proper attention it needs. But on a quick night, I’ll just break out my Clarisonic while I’m in the shower and scrub away.

4. They say true beauty lies underneath. Name what characteristic about you or others that you think is beautiful. Something makeup can’t do.
As for me, I would say that my ability to stay grounded and humbled is more beautiful than anything and bless those who share the same abilities. I live a life thats extremely complicated and many may not understand. I have friends that are really big celebrities and friends who have been around since I started crawling. None of the glitz, glamour or “status” of another ever fills my eyes with any vanity whatsoever. I come from a very loving lower class family where we learned that hardships are simply just a reality of life. I’m a person who was raised by a single parent, our nutrition was government funded, and we were even homeless at one point. But I never look back and regret any of that. If anything my past is what has created the foundation that I stand on and has molded me into the young woman that I am today. To be able to look back on all of that and say “Yep, it happened to me, but I’m okay now” is the beauty of reality; and nothing is more beautiful than someone who is in touch with their own reality and appreciative of everything that is around them.
